This gig is about creating simple, popular slogan shirts for different communities. With a little bit of engagement on the front-end you can generate print-on-demand shirts and sell them online without holding any inventory and little investment.

Step 1: Select a Niche

Choose an idea or community that would go well on a shirt. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • internet memes, hunting, bikers, gaming, fitness enthusiasts, music lovers, movie/TV show fandoms, anime fans, environmentalists, tech geeks, foodies, pet lovers, outdoor adventurers, comic book fans, space enthusiasts, sports fans, yoga practitioners, social justice activists, book lovers, car enthusiasts, travel enthusiasts, artists and designers, political groups, sci-fi/fantasy fans, gardening enthusiasts, LGBTQ+ community, military and veterans, DIY and crafters, spiritual and mindfulness practitioners

Step 2: Engage the Audience

Set up a Facebook page dedicated to just to this niche. Now, create a post on your Facebook page asking for niche-specific comments.

Examples:

"You know you are a [niche] if… (comment below)"

"[Niche] never die, they... (comment below)"

You can also use Google to find popular phrases related to the idea.

Step 3: Boost Engagement

If needed, invest $5-$15 to boost the post on Facebook to reach a larger audience.

Your goal is to have as many people see the post and engage as possible.

Step 4: Analyze Responses

The goal is maximum attention and there's no better way than to let your community tell you what's popular.

Copy all comments into a spreadsheet and sort by number of reactions (likes & replies). You'll use the top comments based on engagement to use in your products.

Step 5: Create the Design

Use Canva or hire a designer on Fiverr for a few bucks ($5-15). Given how simple the design is, it shouldn't be a problem to find someone or even just do it yourself.

Step 6: Set Up the Product Page

There's a lot of print-on-demand (POD) services out there, so you'll need to find one that meets the right blend of quality, price point, and shipping speed for your needs. We recommend CustomCat, but you do you, boo.

  • Create your online store.
  • Choose product types, set prices, select colors, and write a short description. This part will depend on which shop you have to decide to use for fulfillment, so see their site for instructions.

Step 7: Promote the Products

Create a Facebook ad campaign with a $10 daily budget, split into two ad sets ($5/day each):

  • Note: You can use a mock-up image of the shirt for your ad. It doesn't have to be a real-life image.

Step 8: Optimize and Scale

Monitor daily sales and advertising spend. Gradually increase the ad budget if sales and profit margins are healthy. Test the waters in each niche with only a few dollars at a time (say, $5 or $10 per day, gradually increasing if you see a positive return.)

Step 9: Repeat and Expand

Use the same method for different niches. Find what's popular and capitalize on it by expanding into and testing different markets.

See our list above for more ideas--but don't be afraid to get creative. The goal is to test the waters with minimal spending to see what takes off.
